Cecil McCurdy

Cecil McCurdy was a Capitol Conference All-star in 1975, as he played Point Guard for the mighty Douglass Trojans. He was awarded a full athletic basketball scholarship to Langston University were he was recruited to play shooting guard for the great Coach Lawrence Cudjoe.
At the conclusion of his great college career, he was recruited to join the prestigious Athletes in Action professional basketball team. Coach McCurdy had received a call from The Lord to Minister and to Pastor.
He was awarded a full graduate academic scholarship to Phillips Seminary in Enid Oklahoma. While in Enid Coach McCurdy was asked to join the basketball staff of the legendary Phillips Lady Haymakers as the 1st Assistant Coach of the Lady’s basketball team where he began his coaching career.
Coach McCurdy also helped coach at Oklahoma Bible Academy also in Enid. He coached many AAU (Amateur Athletic Union) and MAYB (Mid-America Youth Basketball) teams winning several tournaments and titles.
Coach McCurdy also helped with the United States Basketball League as a Team Scout and Team Chaplin, while there he worked with the great Kareem Abdul Jabar.
Coach McCurdy began his high school-coaching career with the Mighty Millwood Falcons, as the 1st Assistant Coach with Oklahoma Hall of Fame Basketball Coach Varryl Franklin where they won a State Basketball Championship in 2007. He also has coached with the highly prestigious Cage Camp at Oklahoma Christian University under the direction of another legendary Basketball Coach, Dan Hayes.
Coach McCurdy has an Associates Degree in Health Physical Education & Recreation, a Bachelors Degree in Communications and a Masters of Arts Degree in Urban Education.
He is a member of The National Federation of High School Sports and The Oklahoma Coaches Association. He is the Senior Pastor of Christ The King Christian Center and has been pastoring there for the last 25 years.
Coach McCurdy’s coaching philosophy is “Developing the Whole Athlete, Spirit, Soul and Body.
